Butyl rubber (IIR)

In 2017, the world’s butyl rubber production reached 1.926 million tons / year, mainly in North America, Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe and Asia. 1. ExxonMobil Chemical

ExxonMobil Chemical is the world’s largest petrochemical company, selling more than 17 million tons of petrochemicals annually.

Main business: olefins, aromatics, solvents, synthetic rubber, polyethylene, polypropylene, plasticizers, synthetic lubricant base oils, fuel and lubricant additives and zeolite catalysts.

Ordinary butyl and halobutyl rubber capacity: about 635,000 tons / year, accounting for 33% of the world’s total capacity. The capacity of the US Baytown is about 195,000 tons/year, the capacity of Baton Rouge in the United States is about 150,000 tons/year, the welfare capacity of the UK is about 110,000 tons/year, and the capacity of Graveson in France is about 70,000 tons/year. 2.LANXESS

In 2004, Bayer Group carried out a strategic reorganization and splitting its chemical business and part of its polymer business. LANXESS was born. Alang Shinco is a joint venture founded by LANXESS and Saudi Aramco in 2016 to include all of LANXESS’s synthetic rubber business.

Main business: special chemicals, basic chemicals, fine chemicals, rubber and plastics.

Ordinary butyl and halobutyl rubber production capacity: about 400,000 tons / year, of which Belgium Zven Drecht capacity is about 150,000 tons / year, Canada’s Sarnia capacity is about 150,000 tons / year, Singapore The capacity of the island is about 100,000 tons/year.

3.Japanese butyl rubber company

The company is a joint venture between Japan Synthetic Rubber Company and ExxonMobil Chemical’s 1:1 share. It is the only butyl rubber producer in Japan.

The total production capacity of ordinary butyl and halogenated butyl rubber: about 178,000 tons / year, of which Kawasaki production capacity is about 98,000 tons / year, and Kashima capacity is about 80,000 tons / year.

4.Russia Nknh Petrochemical Company

Russia’s Nknh Petrochemical Company is one of the largest petrochemical companies in Europe. Founded in 1967, the Russian Federation produces synthetic rubber and plastics. The main production facilities are located in Kamska, the Republic of Tatarstan.

Main business: special synthetic rubber, engineering plastics, raw materials for rubber and plastics, and other petrochemical products.

5.Russian sibur Company

It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Russia’s Sibur Company and its main business is synthetic rubber and its monomers.

The main products: copolymer rubber, butyl rubber, butadiene, high octane gasoline additives and isobutylene.

Ordinary butyl and halobutyl rubber capacity: about 53,000 tons / year.
